No. 1: Have you guys heard about this food philosophy about eating for your blood type? My friend Brett told me about it years ago. I'm not a believer in big, fad diet things (just a believer in making as many healthy choices throughout the day as you can), but I've been considering reading up on the info behind this idea because I had to start taking iron supplements for baby girl recently and, ever since, I have never felt better. I can't really workout anymore, but I think that has more to do with the watermelon on my midsection than it does about general health. Anyway, since taking the iron, I feel clearer and more energetic and just healthier during my daily doings. Makes a gal who's been pretty sleepy her whole life take notice.
No. 2: Have you ever...I mean, seriously, have you ever seen something so cute? Ever ever? (via Marcy)
No. 3: So cool. (via Unruly Things)
No. 4: I live in fear of the mixer that I'm watching over for a friend without enough kitchen space. It's just so big...and heavy...and loud...how can it possibly not jump off the shelf when I try to use it and just gobble me right up? I never have purchased a sweet little hand mixer because who needs that when you don't, um, bake? But lately, maybe it's baby or maybe it's just the new house, I've been wanting to, like, prepare things in the kitchen! It's shocking even to me. Since I'm still afraid of the big girl mixer, I think this cute little happy handheld mixer might be a good introduction.
No. 5: I'm needing a diaper bag that isn't too girly so that Cute Husband can carry it around, too. This one from Skip Hop is close...I think. Maybe.

No. 1: So, I guess these lunchboxes are for kids? Yeah? But, really, I'd rock this thing every single lunch time if given the chance. Even though I don't pack lunches...since I work from home and my kitchen is about ten steps and a hop over our super official shipping station on the floor from where I sit most of each day.
No. 2: Do you know that Cute Husband and I have numbers for each other? Our birth dates. They are everywhere in our house. Every. Where. Seriously. We're kind of obsessed. And I like these illustrated ones by Paul Thurlby I wonder what number sweet baby girl will have to add into the mix. I'm sure it will be perfect and adorable and sweet because, duh, everything about her is. Right? Right.
No. 3: Here's the thing. These chocolate bars are heaven in chocolate. I'm convinced. Marcy and I scoured the NYC Whole Foods for them last week because maybe we had a piece (or five) of these little guys every single day of the NY Gift Show in August (no big deal) and we couldn't find them. It was pregnancy meltdown time in the bakery section, let me tell you. My taste buds were longing (longing, I tell you!) for the salty and sweet goodness. How could Whole Foods deny this emotional and hungry pregnant lady? But they were no where to be found.
No. 4: Well, hey there, adorable heart print. You fill me with happiness and might be just perfect for sweet baby girl's nursery. I suppose I've got to put some sort of pink in there among the greys, right?
No. 5: Straws with hearts on them, people. Hearts! Happiness sips.
No. 6: Ummm...happiest cutting boards ever. These might actually make me excited about, you know, spending time cutting things in the kitchen? Maybe?

stunning by ziio
Sweet Melissa from Melissa Loves (no, really, you guys, she's just as awesome and nice and sweet in person as she is in this blog - truly, truly) pinned these bracelets by ziio on Pinterest last week and I seriously can't get them out of my mind. Aren't the stunners? Just absolutely how-on-earth-can-this-be-real-and-can-I-just-sit-and-talk-to-the-person-who-created-this-for-maybe-five-minutes-or-something-please kind of amazing. Right?

old-school
Anything that can make old-school hip hop lyrics run through my mind before 7am is a thing that warrants a blog post, don't you think? Thank you, Paper Jam Press, for allowing that to be a reality this fine Thursday morning.

photoshop tricks and cheats
Goodness gracious almighty, fuzzimo.com and their amazing texture and brush downloads might have solved most (slash all) of my how-do-I-get-this-email-to-look-like-I-want-it-to design type problems. Amazing.

shanna murray decal happiness
You guys, there are some moments in this whole business-owning-jewelry-making thing that just make me feel like the most special of all specials. Getting a sweet little handwritten thank you note from Shanna Murray upon opening her adorable wall decal and hearing her comment about my office reorganization that I'm guessing she read about on this here bloggy blog left me sort of (slash completely one hundred percent) squealing to Cute Husband "She knows me! She actually knows who I am!" It's the little moments, friends, ain't it? They leave me all kinds of filled up and I'm oh so very thankful for them. I'm also thankful for creative and sweet people who make such wonderful little decals that absolutely light up my office and bring me such happiness. Readers, you sweet things, go buy these decals. They are worth every penny.

shots from the sky
I went to the Paramount with Marcy last night to see George Steinmetz talk about some of his amazing (seriously, I mean that in every single sense of that word) aerial photography. I can't believe some of these shots were real. It was, literally, unbelievable. The fact that this man para glides out there all over the world in a rigged device (that, to me, was sort of a glorified industrial motorized fan strapped to his back) in order to get these shots is, once again, unbelievable.
All images totally and completely property of George Steinmetz. Um, duh.

i love daniella, too!
Y'all...know how I like things that are simple and plain and white and maybe have a touch of gold on them somewhere sweet and soft? Know how that's the case? Well, well, well...have you ever seen such ceramic goodness that is so perfectly suited to yours truly? Yay love daniella, well done!

fancy text
I'm checking out some new calligraphy artists for a little project I'm working on and I think the work over at If So Inklined is just fantastic. Plus, I always love a little play on words for a business name. Gets me every time. Double plus? She's a cville gal, too.

paper goodness
Holy cannoli, y'all, check out these paper sculptures by artist Nava Lubelski that she makes from, wait for it, her tax returns. Cooler than cool, right?
Had to share this here even though Mint Design Blog did a way lovely job of writing about it first.

makes me want to squeal
Maybe it's because I have the new laurel denise home-line on my brain (which, seriously, is going to be teeny tiny at its launch...just getting my toes wet here, folks) or maybe it's because this hand blown glass work is absolutely out of this world impossibly amazing, but don't you also feel that everything in this Kiva Ford Etsy shop is the coolest?? Because I do. I do a lot. It makes me want to squeal.

mikel robinson
Do you all know I'm the worst gift-buyer ever for my dear husband? Worst. I'm not sure that he's gotten a Christmas present on time (or period) in years. That's partly due to the fact that Christmas closely trumps August/September as my craziest business time of the year (what the multiple outdoor weeks-in-a-row-freezing-cold laurel denise shows and all), but still...inexcusable. So we decided to purchase a piece of art together for each anniversary instead of buying another gift that I would lame out on and he would be fabulous on. I walked into Mikel Robinson's booth at the Fall Foliage Festival a few weekends ago and, well, kind of geeked/freaked out. I instantly loved every piece very, very much and seriously needed to leave the booth before scaring the other customers. Didn't leave for long though. Once I got the Cute Husband stamp of approval, I went in to purchase our fave. The website doesn't show a ton of the work he was selling at the show, but his Etsy shop has prints of some of the work he was selling.

and i'm back
Holy cow, I've missed you, dear blog readers. I've missed my house and my Cute Husband and my routine and my computer and my google reader and and and... I guess when I said that I might not be posting a lot while I was away, what I really meant was that I wouldn't be posting at all. Because, man, even though part of my travels was a vacation, traveling can take a lot of out a gal! Funny how that tends to happen. Things were great at my trade shows in Atlanta and Chicago - can't wait to send you all information on the fun new stores that will be receiving Laurel Denise goods in the near future. As time these shows tend to always do, I've come home full of ideas and inspiration for new designs. Between shipping to all of the new stores and trying to get samples made of new designs before I leave for New York Gift and Seattle Gift in a few weeks, things are going to be, um, busy. But good, great, fabulous busy and I'm happy to be back in my happy little c'ville life doing these busy things.

print love
Let's see, how many posts can I write about that involve me needing to hang art in the place I live? Not quite as many as my love of cream and gray clothing, I guess, but still. Sorry, friends, but the walls are still empty (minus some cute coat hooks from Anthro) and all of our artwork is still leaning against the dining area floor. Classy. I'm thinking the reason the are all still on the floor is because the artwork we currently have isn't as cool as the artwork above. Like, not even close.
Yee Haw farmers market print (which is so much cooler in person - spotted it at my new friend's place in Richmond last weekend) | Yee Haw wood type print | Yee Haw sunny side print | farmers market bike print | freya art birdie love print | love is the new black print | think happy, be happy print
